kicking ass and talking revolution

reading this post by Ashley made me think of how important it is to ‘talk revolution’ with people. once a professor of mine asked a group of us “when you think about what kind of a world you want to live in, what does it look like?”. when we couldn’t answer she said “see that’s the thing, nobody ever talks about revolution anymore. nobody ever envisions anymore”. since then, thinking, talking, and screaming about the world I want to live in has been really important to me. I don’t give a fuck if it is passé to talk about revolution. we need to be having courageous conversations about the change we want to see, and are trying to create. that’s why often I ask people to hang out and ‘talk revolution’ with me. creating language and action around transformational social movements helps make it a reality. we need to continue questioning, challenging and learning from each other -we need to keep our struggles alive and open.
