I am a revolutionary. By this I mean that I strongly believe in revolution. For me, the possibility, the imagination, the overwhelming bodily knowledge that change is coming – keeps me alive. I believe in cycles. I constantly bear witness to the movements of birth, death, and regeneration. I see it happening in communities that I am part of, and in communities that I am generously granted access to. I see it happening in my friends, in my lovers, in my family, in my self. We continuously grow and shift. We shed hair and skin. And like the endless scabs that flake off of our bodies – the physical reminders that healing is possible - we shed the hurt and pain that collects in wounds left by a world that wants us crushed.

I feel the shifts in paradigms as strongly as I feel the ground moving under my feet. I feel the energy of the world changing. Revolution is all around us. It is in the smallest moments when we feel love for ourselves. It is revolution when we call ourselves artists instead of dabblers. It is revolution when we see magic instead of coincidence. It is revolution when we believe in the possibility of the things we can’t always put our finger on, that we can’t always see or name or define. Revolution, like magic, cannot exist if we aren’t willing to see it. We must keep our eyes, ears, and hearts open. We must let it in and give it as much power as we give logic and reason. Revolution, like magic, is in the asking of questions that do not need fixed and solid answers. It is present and rich, not in the known, but in the imagined.
